Settlement Agreements

A Settlement Agreement is a legally binding contract that an employee is normally asked to sign on leaving his or her employment. We specialise in advising on these, and deal with them on an almost daily basis, by giving very clear and concise advice which clients understand on the terms and effect of such an Agreement.

We find that this can normally be dealt with on the telephone, so as to avoid the need for clients to come to our office, but of course a face to face meeting to go through the Settlement Agreement is equally available if the client prefers.

Our clients have historically been very pleased with the clear and effective advice they have received on their Settlement Agreements. Please telephone Leigh Fitchett on +441483 243587 if you have been issued with a Settlement Agreement, or if you think that you are soon to be so.

For businesses, ensuring your employees’ rights is of paramount importance. But it can be a huge challenge in an ever-diversifying workplace. And with new changes in immigrant and migrant employment rights just around the corner, it’s more crucial than ever to make sure you’re confident in your procedures and policies. Additionally, patterns of work are changing quickly, with new rules on parental leave, and flexible and off-site working. Fitchett & Co can offer easy telephone advice to answer questions on all these matters. We can also provide in-person client meetings if desired, at our Basingstoke office or one of our other locations.

For day-to-day business operations, we draft contracts and settlement agreements, provide HR and industrial relations advice, and review employment terms and conditions. For grievance and disciplinary advice and arbitration, Fitchett & Co’s aim is always to seek sensible conclusions for all parties. If required, our team is able to undertake work for companies as well as individuals within the High Court, the County Court, and Employment Tribunals.

When it comes to approaching big corporate changes, Fitchett & Co can guide you through complex HR transitions toward a clear conclusion. Corporate restructure, mergers and acquisitions can all churn up questions of redundancy and severance packages, as well as Transfer of Undertakings (TUPE) liabilities. Administering workforce change is an important part of our service, both for employers and employees. Organised employee collectives may have additional legal needs in contractual disputes. We can advocate on your behalf in these negotiations.

We are here to help. If you’re not sure we cover your particular question, please get in touch!
